The camp came first. Then Apple, then the shop.
I grew up working my parents' fish camp on the Kenai Peninsula, where the season is a hundred days long and every guest gets the same welcome on day one and day ninety.
I have been in tech since 1995: a repair store, then websites, then two years at Apple working with business customers, then two in financial services at FMC Financial Group. In 2011 I opened JKCA in Seal Beach.
The camp taught me the part of the job the diploma never mentions: show up on time, get it done, and go fish.
