Who it is for
The problem, in plain words.
The person who owns a business domain, keeps hearing "check your spam folder" from customers, and wants it to stop. You need the login to wherever your domain's DNS records live, and about two hours spread over a few weeks.
Anyone can type your address into the From line of an email. SPF, DKIM and DMARC are how receivers tell your real mail from forgeries. When they are missing or broken, your real mail looks like a forgery, and the safe move for a receiver is the spam folder, or since 2024 at the largest providers, refusal.
When you finish, your domain will have three kinds of record that tell Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook and every other mailbox provider which services may send as you: one SPF record, a DKIM key for each sending service, and a DMARC policy saying what to do with mail that fails. You will also have a written list of every tool that sends as your domain, and a ten-minute monthly check.

Questions
Before you buy.
- What do I need before I start?
- The login to wherever your domain's DNS records live, and about two hours spread over a few weeks. Copy every DNS record your domain has today first, so you can put it back if something breaks.
- Do the Gmail and Yahoo sender rules apply to a one-person business?
- Yes. Every sender must authenticate with SPF or DKIM (the guide has you set up both), keep the spam complaint rate in Google Postmaster Tools below 0.3%, and format messages to the email standards.
- Which chapter do people skip?
- Chapter 2, the inventory of every service that sends as your domain. A sender you do not know about is a sender you will block when DMARC tightens.
