AI for local businesses: straight answers

JKCA Studio is a web and care studio in Seal Beach that builds and looks after websites for family businesses, dental and medical offices, insurance agencies and property managers in the beach cities; these are our plain answers about using AI in that work.

  • Can my office put patient or client information into ChatGPT?

Not into the free, Plus or Business versions: OpenAI signs a business associate agreement only for sales-managed ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu accounts and for its API, so patient details typed into the everyday plans fall outside HIPAA.

  • Is an AI receptionist worth it for a small office?

An AI receptionist is worth it when the calls you miss are routine (hours, directions, booking, 'are you open'), and a bad fit when most calls need judgment, a license, or a patient's chart.

  • How does a local business get recommended by ChatGPT?

ChatGPT and Google's AI answers recommend businesses they can find and confirm: a site that states plainly what you do and where, a Google Business Profile that matches it, and reviews and listings elsewhere that say the same thing.

  • Why doesn't my business show up in ChatGPT?

Usually because nothing online says plainly what you do and where: the site talks around it, the Google Business Profile disagrees with the site, or there are too few reviews and listings for an AI to confirm you exist.

  • Should I use AI to reply to my Google reviews?

Use AI to draft review replies, not to post them: a person should read every reply first, and a medical or dental office must never confirm in a reply that the reviewer is a patient.

  • Can I use ChatGPT to write my website?

Yes, Google doesn't penalize text for being written with AI; it demotes pages that are thin, generic, or wrong, which is what unedited ChatGPT copy about a local business usually is.
